After my check engine light came on, I had the dealership perform service on my car which included the replacement of a catalytic converter and related solenoid as well as an oil change and tire rotation - in total approximately a $2,200 service.
The next day after the service was performed, the check engine light was back on. Based on an OBS reading I took, the car was pointing to a P0455 code which indicated that an Evaporative Emissions Control issue was present. After bringing the car in for service again, I was told the OBS codes the technician took instead suggested transmission issues (car was not exhibiting any issues with the transmission previously and the OBS reading I had taken ONLY indicated the P0455 issue). The dealership claims to have reset the codes and requested that I monitor the car and the check engine light.
Additionally, the technician, on the first visit sprayed WD-40 on the rear seat tracks instead of using good old fashioned grease. This in turn caused the car to develop an unbearable WD-40 smell with related fumes which did not dissipate and caused my wife and children to develop headaches and eye irritation (tearing) every time they used the car. On the second visit, I shared this with the advisor and the dealerships solution was to wipe down the seat tracks and apply an odor neutralizer - all this has done is to now create a different smell with related fumes, albeit not WD-40. I am not sure what would posess someone to spray WD-40 in a confined space, such as a car, in the middle of winter, where rolling down the windows, is not an option
All in all - not a good overall experience and will likely cause me to not return to this dealership again.
I love coming to the dealership. Everyone is helpful, friendly, all go above and beyond. The waiting area is clean, well stocked with food and snacks. On this last visit I saw the nicest thing. A very old gentlemen was in, seemed like he wanted something small looked at. The mechanics knew him by first name, and he the same. They were patient and so kind with him. Explained there was nothing wrong with his truck, but if he had any other issues or questions, he knew where to find them. And then they walked him to his car. Was so refreshing to see the kidness these two mechanics showed the old man. I have a Jeep as well, and I despise going to that dealership. Salerno has a customer for life in me.
Everyone was very helpful and made me feel very comfortable with how they approached the transaction. I didnt feel pressured at all, the team gave me the space and time I needed to make a decision. I especially appreciated how our sales person (Mark Hathaway) treated our family, he was first class in his approach.
Theresa in service was very accommodating and a pleasure to deal with. Due to my hectic schedule it is very difficult for me to keep appointments so when someone can accommodate me last minute it is a huge help. Thx again everyone at the dealership.
Went in for an oil change and it looks like someone went through my consult. I told general manager, he said he would return my call monday-its Thursday and no call back.
There's no reason for anyone to be in my middle consult and still no answers.
I enjoyed working with my sales rep David van Heerden. He was very pleasant to talk to, and extremely knowledgeable about the models and their features. After discussing my needs, he suggested several different models to look at, and I ended up buying a GMC Acadia that I hadn't originally known about. When I had trouble getting a ride to Jim Salerno to pick up my car, David offered to pick me up himself. Everybody that I met there was friendly and helpful.
I had a poor experience several months ago and have decided to not use Salerno service except for the basic oil change. Will take a while to earn my trust back but I think generally I would choose other dealerships.
George was a great resource for us. He knew the products and gave us several options on different cars at different price levels. We looked at several different cars at different dealers and none of the salespeople were anywhere near as friendly and knowledge as George. My wife and I wanted to give him our business. I was driving by one day at 7:30AM and saw George at his desk so I stopped in and he showed me cars. Mr. Salerno was walking around and George introduced us to him one day as well. Great experience because of George and I would recommend this dealership to anyone.
